Chris West: Blood, Sweat & Ears, or how to make cartilage from fat



In his talk Chris, a plastic surgeon by training, outlined his PhD work which he undertook with Bruno Péault and Mark Bradley in Edinburgh on developing materials strategies to isolate, grow and differentiate adipose derived stem cells (here specifically pericytes) into cartilage, with the aim to help reconstruct e.g. outer ear structure.
